Position Summary:
Install, program, maintain, or repair security, CCTV,IP Video, access control, or fire alarm wiring and equipment. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes and uniform installation standards are met across multi location national account customers.”

Essential Duties And Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, the National Account Installer may be expected to perform some or all of the duties listed and other duties as assigned.
  • Examine systems to locate problems, such as loose connections or broken insulation.
  • Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and all security features in order to ensure proper functioning, and to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, or video cameras and attach electrical and telephone wiring to connect components.
  • Install, maintain, or repair security systems, alarm devices, or related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
  • Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; then position and terminate cables, wires and strapping.
  • Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
  • Adjust sensitivity of units, based on room structures and manufacturers' recommendations, using programming keypads.
  • Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.
  • Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, or floors.
  • Demonstrate systems for customers and explain details, such as the causes and consequences of false alarms.
  • Consult with clients to assess risks and to determine security requirements.
  • Mount raceways and conduits.
  • Maintain an on-going library of all ADT/Protection One Policies, procedures, and Technical Manuals.
  • Submit accurate and timely documentation to your immediate supervisor (Billing reports, data Entry Information, Time Cards).
  • Attend Classroom, on-line and Field Training as required.
  • Maintain Good Driving Record and comply with ADT/Protection One's vehicle policy.
  • Maintain the appropriate Truck Stock Supplies/Tools/Equipment.
  • Maintain the appropriate basic hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
  • Perform New System Installations, Upgrades and Additions
  • Perform Customer Instruction on System Operation and Functionality.
  • Perform System testing and Signal Verification.
  • Keep informed of new products and developments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • No direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Must be able to direct labor resources including level I technicians, level II technicians, and subcontractors.

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Must have working knowledge of equipment application, compatibility, mounting techniques, programming and testing.
  • Must have working knowledge of Fire Systems, CCTV, Intercom, Burglar Alarms, basic networking skills and Card
  • Access systems
  • Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems.
  • Knowledge of Company policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices.
  • Must understand basic electrical theory, electrical safety and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to operate power tools.

  • Must be able to read diagrams and blueprints. Capable of producing “as built” information for final drawings.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work extended period of time away from home up to 15 days away at a time.

Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, push, pull or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and twist.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 80 pounds

Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • This job involves working with 110-volt electricity and may involve working around 120-volt electricity.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle while seated for extended periods, and be able to drive at night.
  • This position involves the possibility of crawling under structures or in attics and must be able to bend and work in tight spaces.
  • The employee is required to be available to work on weekends, holidays and after 5 p.m. as needed.
  • Extensive, frequent, consistent” travel is a requirement. Flexible work hours required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and five years minimum alarm industry installation technician experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Applicable state and local licenses where required.
  • Fire certification for the states you service or NICET I (with in 6 mos).
  • Complete within 12 months of being in the position, certifications related to product being installed, e.g. Microsoft, IP Network, ProWatch and or CASI certified.
  • Must have valid driver’s license issued by the state in which they reside and proper automobile registration.
