Summary:

The Senior Director, Strategic Enterprise Communications is a strategic, forward‑thinking leader responsible for shaping and amplifying the organization’s public narrative. This role oversees all aspects of external communications, including media relations, executive visibility, crisis and issues management, brand reputation, mergers & acquisitions, thought leadership, and corporate storytelling. The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator and advisor who can operate at both strategic and execution levels, partnering closely with executive leadership and cross‑functional teams to advance the company’s reputation and business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Communications Leadership

  • Develop and execute an integrated external communications strategy that strengthens brand reputation and supports business priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leaders, providing counsel on messaging, media engagement, and public positioning.
  • Lead proactive storytelling initiatives that highlight company innovation, culture, impact, and performance.

Media Relations & Public Visibility

  • Cultivate strong relationships with national, trade, and local media outlets; act as a primary spokesperson when appropriate.
  • Oversee earned media strategy, including pitches, press releases, bylines, speaking engagements, and editorial opportunities.
  • Drive executive thought leadership programs across conferences, interviews, and contributed content.

Crisis & Issues Management

  • Lead external communications response during crises or sensitive issues, ensuring timely, transparent, and aligned messaging.
  • Collaborate with Legal, HR, Operations, and Security teams to minimize reputational risk and prepare crisis communication plans.

Content Leadership

  • Oversee the creation of high-quality external‑facing content, such as news releases, social media content, web copy, executive blogs, and corporate narratives.
  • Ensure messaging consistency across all channels and audiences.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with Marketing, HR, Legal, Investor Relations, Government Affairs, and business units to align communication initiatives.
  • Partner closely with internal communications leaders to ensure cohesive enterprise-wide storytelling.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing external communications team.
  • Manage external agencies, consultants, and media partners to deliver best-in-class work.

Analytics, Measurement & Optimization

  • Define and implement enterprise-level communications measurement frameworks to assess reach, engagement, sentiment, and effectiveness.
  • Use insights and data to inform strategy, improve content and channels, and demonstrate impact to senior leadership.
  • Regularly report outcomes, trends, and recommendations to executive stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in external communications or public relations.
  • Proven success leading media relations, reputational campaigns, and executive communications at a large organization, agency, or complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-stakes communications and crisis situations.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and messaging development skills.
  • Experience leading and coaching teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience leading external communications in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Strong understanding of brand integration, financial communications, and corporate strategy

Location:

  • In-office 4x/week at Boca HQ with 1x/week remote option

Travel:

  • Occasionally, less than 25%
