A Day in the Life of a Sales Representative at ADT: Francisco Bahena’s Customer-First Approach
At ADT, being a sales representative is about much more than making a sale, it’s about being a trusted partner who helps protect and connect what matters most for customers. Francisco Bahena, a sales representative with over 14 years of experience, knows this better than anyone. With no prior sales experience when he joined ADT, Francisco built his career from the ground up, reaching milestones like nine-time membership in the Centurion Club and selection for the Circle of Excellence last year.
Balancing his busy career with family life as a proud father of three girls, Francisco has embraced the opportunities that come with being a part of ADT. Let’s take a closer look at what a typical day for Francisco looks like in his role as a sales representative at ADT.

Morning: Starting the Day with Flexibility and Focus
Francisco starts each day early, preparing himself for what lies ahead. His first task is to open his iPad to check his emails. This is where he can quickly assess any customer requests or issues that might need immediate attention. “I check for anything that came in overnight, such as customer questions or any potential problems that I need to address right away,” he says.
Once that’s sorted, Francisco takes a look at his calendar. As a self-driven sales representative, he has the ability to build his own schedule each day. This autonomy is a major perk, giving him the freedom to prioritize meetings and appointments based on what works best for him. “I make sure to plan my route and appointments for the day. Since a lot of my meetings are self-generated, I’m able to control my schedule and adapt as needed,” he explains. The flexibility to choose where and when he works is one of the reasons Francisco loves his role—no two days are ever the same, and each day offers a new challenge.
Mid-Morning: Meeting with Customers and Solving Problems
As Francisco heads into the field, his primary goal is always to solve problems for his customers, whether it’s through answering questions, addressing concerns, or providing information about ADT’s home security systems. When he arrives at a customer’s home, Francisco doesn’t just offer a sales pitch—he listens carefully to the customer’s needs. “The key is understanding exactly what the customer is looking for,” says Francisco. “Is there a specific security concern they have? Do they need an upgrade? I make sure I fully understand their situation before making any recommendations. It’s about being proactive and making sure the customer feels supported every step of the way,” he explains. In these moments, Francisco embodies ADT’s core culture value of leading by taking ownership. He goes above and beyond to ensure the customer’s needs are met, taking initiative to connect them with the right resources and solutions.
Afternoon: Growing Relationships and Managing Leads
As the day progresses, Francisco continues his work by following up with existing customers and reaching out to new leads. One of the greatest perks of his role is the ability to work independently, tracking his leads through tools like Salesforce, and deciding where to focus his efforts. “I use Salesforce to check for new leads and see if there are any follow-ups needed from previous days. It’s a lot of self-management, but it gives me the chance to be in control of my pipeline,” he explains.
Francisco is committed to ensuring that every customer interaction is a positive experience. Whether he’s answering questions, addressing concerns, or simply offering helpful advice, he sees each customer relationship as an opportunity to build long-term trust. “When customers have another location coming up, they call me directly instead of the 800 number. That’s when I know I’ve built a strong relationship,” Francisco says. The opportunity to work closely with customers and be their go-to representative is one of the highlights of his job, as it allows him to make a direct and lasting impact on their lives.
Late Afternoon: Reflecting on the Day and Preparing for Tomorrow
As the day draws to a close, Francisco reflects on his interactions and the progress he made. His role offers the freedom to set his own pace, and while every day is different, he always feels a sense of accomplishment.
“At the end of the day, I look back and know that I’ve helped customers feel secure and confident in their decisions,” says Francisco.
He also prepares for the following day by reviewing his schedule and leads. As a self-motivated representative, Francisco enjoys being in control of his agenda, and this gives him the flexibility to adjust as needed.
“I like to end my day knowing that I’ve planned for the next. Being able to shape my own day is something I really appreciate about my job,” he adds.
Mentoring New Reps: Giving Back and Sharing Knowledge
In addition to his work with customers, Francisco has the opportunity to mentor new team members. As someone who started with no sales experience, he understands how intimidating it can be for newcomers, and he takes pride in guiding them through the early stages of their careers.
“I remember what it was like to be new, and I love helping others find their confidence,” he says. “Now, I can show new reps how to approach customers and handle their own routes, and it’s rewarding to see them grow.”
Francisco’s willingness to mentor and share his knowledge is a testament to ADT’s commitment to unity—fostering an environment where experienced reps help others succeed.
Embodying ADT’s Core Culture Values in Every Interaction
Francisco’s day-to-day routine as a sales representative at ADT shows that the role is not just about selling a product—it’s about providing value, building relationships, and taking ownership of every customer’s experience. His approach reflects ADT’s core values of innovation, leadership, collaboration, and a dedication to service.
Whether it’s preparing for the day, solving a problem for a customer, or helping a new colleague, Francisco’s day exemplifies how ADT’s mission to protect and connect extends far beyond the products and services offered—it’s about making a real difference in the lives of the people served.
