Creating Space for Healing: How ADT’s Mental Wellness BERG Supports and Unites Employees Through Infertility and Pregnancy Loss
For many, October is a month of quiet remembrance. It’s Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to honor the strength of those who have experienced loss and to recognize the love and resilience carried through every step of the journey.
Mental wellness is a core focus at ADT. One way that commitment comes to life is through the Mental Wellness Business Employee Resource Group (BERG), an employee-led community that promotes open dialogue, peer support, and access to resources that prioritize emotional well-being.
The Mental Wellness BERG recently expanded to include a dedicated Infertility & Loss Pillar, offering support to employees navigating one of life’s most personal and often silent struggles.
This new pillar was born from one employee’s courage to speak up and create space for others.

Starting the Conversation: Jamie Puisto’s Journey
When Jamie Puisto, Manager of Customer Experience, joined ADT, she noticed something missing: a space for employees facing infertility and pregnancy loss. So, she built one.
“I’ve walked this path for nearly 10 years,” Jamie shares. “A support group at a previous company helped me more than I can explain. When I joined ADT, I didn’t see a group like this, so I decided to create one.”
What began as a peer-led support group has grown into a thriving community of nearly 80 members. Now, as part of the Mental Wellness BERG, the Infertility & Loss Pillar offers monthly meetings, guest speakers, and a private, judgment-free space where employees unite to connect, share, and heal together.
“It’s incredibly lonely,” Jamie says. “Especially when reminders are everywhere — on social media, TV, even just walking through a store. This group is a place where people can escape that feeling, connect with others who truly understand, and build real friendships along the way.”
Infertility and Loss: A Shared Yet Often Silent Experience
According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 6 people will experience infertility at some point in their lives. And an estimated 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss. These numbers reflect a reality that touches far more families than most realize, yet it’s a topic that often goes unspoken in the workplace.
Jamie’s mission is to change that.
“Those going through infertility and loss are some of the strongest, most compassionate people you’ll ever meet,” she says. “We just want to be parents — and GREAT parents at that.”
Her personal journey has shaped how she shows up for others. And it also brought her the greatest gift of all.

“My daughter Ayla is my miracle,” Jamie says. “I never gave up on my dream of becoming a mom, and she made that dream come true. She’s the best little girl in the world, and I’m still hopeful to give her a sibling one day.”
A Culture of Care at ADT
The Infertility & Loss Pillar reflects how ADT’s BERGs create meaningful spaces where employees unite to connect and support each other. Through thoughtful programming and peer-led initiatives, employees find community in shared experiences and strength in vulnerability.
The Mental Wellness BERG also leads educational initiatives that help employees navigate sensitive topics with empathy. In February, the group hosted a webinar titled Coping and Supporting Others Through Grief, led by a licensed clinical social worker. The session focused on miscarriage, infertility, and child loss, offering tools for both personal healing and supporting others.
“The more we talk about it, the less isolated people feel,” Jamie says. “That’s what this group is all about.”
At ADT, we’re proud to foster a culture where employees feel seen, supported, and empowered to lead change, especially when it comes to mental wellness. Looking for a workplace where people unite to support one another and grow together? Explore open roles at ADT here.
