Basically what I do, I get the opportunity to go into different people’s homes and help protect them, keep them safe, help them feel more secure in their house. The fun part is, I get to play with electronics all day, a new technology. It’s a different site every day and something to do.

With your customers, you want to make sure that you take the opportunity to talk to the different people you meet. And your new customer every day, you need to see where they’re coming from, what they need.
And the more you take the time to hear them out and their story and what’s been going on with them, the better the install can do for them, the more you can change what you’re doing to benefit the needs of the customer because you’ll find out, oh, they need another glass break because they have a concern about a certain room. Or they need a motion detector here. Oh, they have dogs or pets in the house, so they want to smoke detector. Wasn’t originally sold, gives you the opportunity to do an upsell while you’re there, which, as a technician, I get paid to do extra. I get extra bonus money from that to do upsells.

If you’re willing to put the work into it and put the effort into it to understand how everything works and get the basics down, everything else is easy. And I want to make sure I do a good job with what I do at work so I show my kids giving them an example of what I want them to be when they grow up. When I do my job, I want to treat my customers the way I want my family treated at home, bottom line.

I want someone to go into my house, do a good job, talk to my family understand what their needs are, and do whatever they can to fix it because bottom line, we’re all trying to help each other out at the end of the day.
