Summary:

Responsible for managing IT personnel including FTE, MSP, and third-party provider SMEs. Activities pertaining to the design, development, testing, documentation, and implementation of platform as a service over a hybrid footprint. Ensure successful and timely execution of requests, changes, refreshes, and service delivery. The manager works and collaborates with other architects across ADT to ensure core infrastructure technologies align with and enable a comprehensive end-to-end solutions architecture. This is a key leadership role within ADT IT and will have direct impact on ADT’s transformation, including the company’s Cloud-First solution principle.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive innovation, technology roadmaps, and setup key partner quarterly business and technology reviews.
  • Manage diverse teams supporting and enhancing all aspects of PaaS; Compute, Hypervisor, Storage, virtual desktops and data protection.
  • Monitor systems performance, ensure capacity planning is performed. Proactive in assessing and providing recommendations for improvement and perform as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent.
  • Establish a comprehensive charge back, show back model. Work with project teams and assist with cost modeling across compute, storage, licenses, and data protection.
  • Assist the Director with capital and expense budget forecasting. Proactively monitor capacity and propose refreshes or capacity add across all stacks.
  • May perform a leadership role as Project Leader for special enterprise-wide assignments.
  • Participate in developing and managing ongoing enterprise architecture governance structure on basis of business plus IT strategies.
  • Perform as a trusted IT consultant with business leaders to develop IT infrastructure solutions and identify prospective impact on business.
  • Stimulate evaluation plus selection of entire infrastructure standards, commensurate with IT’s business partners.
  • Consult project teams to fit assignments and identify need to modify objectives to attain project requirements.
  • Identify enterprise requirements for structures, resources, and cultural modifications required to support infrastructure architecture.
  • Ensure documentation of architecture design and evaluation work in the domains of responsibility.
  • Participate in enterprise architecture activities representing the domains of responsibility. Lead and develop technology roadmaps for domains of responsibility.
  • Act as an escalation point for support related activities for the domains of responsibility.
  • Develop and execute communication plus education plan for operational teams.
  • Proficient in workload migration strategies across hybrid data centers, including On-prem, CoLo, SaaS, and Cloud.
  • Evaluate and recommend new products and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies for enterprise application.
  • Work across several business areas as a visionary to proactively assist in defining the direction of future projects.
  • Provide advanced multi-disciplinary knowledge, skills, and experience in technical architecture and design.
  • Collaborate, define, and maintain effective and efficient designs to optimize performance.
  • Teach others the technical, functional knowledge and skills needed to achieve results at the optimum level of performance.
  • Play a lead role in the evaluation of third-party software applications and components targeted for possible integration into the overall solution, including strategic applications, tools, and utilities.
  • Assist the director in shifting workloads from tactical to strategic level through efficiencies and identify any outsourcing potentials.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Four (4) year degree.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Certifications preferred: HCI, Backup, storage, operations.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in a large Enterprise IT environment managing IT infrastructure, hardware, hosting service.

Certifications:

  • Demonstrated certification in one or more technical domains.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In depth knowledge of VDI across hybrid data center footprint. Citirx backend XenServer (CVAD) design, implementation, migration, and road map strategies experience is highly desired.
  • Thorough understanding of enterprise level Storage design and operation, i.e., Dell EMC, Pure, IBM etc. Structured, unstructured and Tier storage pools, SDWAN, storage virtualization concepts.
  • Extensive experience with Intel based commodity platforms (HCI), implementation, consolidation, scale and refresh are required. E.g., Vblock, MX Blade, VxRail, HPE and UCS.
  • Concrete knowledge of large corporate level data protection and anti-ransomware methodologies, including design and implementation utilizing enterprise level products. I.e., Cohesity, Dell Data Domain across multi cloud and on-prem site.
  • Expert in diverse hypervisor knowledge on industry leading VMWare and RHEV across hybrid environment. Cloud experience is a major plus.
  • Understanding of mid-range platforms, capacity management, AIX, RHEL, and other flavors of Unix OS. Both on-prem as well as in the public cloud.
  • Functional experience with building strategies around IaaS (service model), DevOps, Public cloud. Outline design and best practices for optimal business processes.
  • Understanding of Enterprise scripting tools: Terraform (Multi cloud, Iaas), Ansible, RH Satellite, SCCM, PowerShell.
  • Functional knowledge of stack consolidation, Data Center footprint reduction, cost optimization, workload migration on multi-cloud environment.
  • Core concepts and tools for IAC modeling: Automation, IPAM, Continuous configuration management, Component analytics.
  • Very strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate plans and processes in all directions.
  • Proficient in driving complex technology roadmaps across Core Infrastructure stacks: Hypervisor, Citrix, HCI, Midrange, Storage, Data Protection, Ransomware, OS, middleware.
  • Strong knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Visio, and any other technical mapping tools.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this role is $108,000-$162,000 and is based on experience and qualifications.

Certain roles are eligible for annual bonus and may include equity. These awards are allocated based on company and individual performance.
